We celebrated Daphne's 7th birthday by having a horse party for her and some friends and our church builing. I'm not sure if I've ever posted this before, but my kids don't get huge birthday parties each year. We usually just have a family one that has 20-30 people at it. That's one reason for this decision and another is that we can't afford 4 big parties a year! Every 3 years starting at the age of 4 the kids get to have a big bash where they can invite as many friends as they want. So this year it was Daphne's turn. She had a horse party because she is apparently really into horses as well as monkeys, peace signs, rainbows, etc. I think her and her friends had a lot of fun. There were a total of 18 kids there which was good because I don't think that I could have handled any more. First grade girls have a whole lot of energy!!! We painted some horses, made a horse bookmark, and had a relay race before settling down (just a little) to eat cake and open presents.
Here are some things about Daphne...she is a little mommy. If it were up to her, she would take care of Aubrey all the time (except for changing dirty diapers!)... she is very smart... she is an awesome reader... she can be quite bossy at times especially to Kaylee and Noah...her favortie color right now is pink...she likes to push things to the limit...she is starting to get embarrassed by things easier than she once did...she is starting to act girly which is kinda good and kinda bad...she's into fashion and really likes her new peace sign high-tops!...she wants to be in charge and doesn't always thinks I'm doing things the right way...she is overall a wonderful daughter and we're very lucky to have her!!
I finally got a picture of Aubrey kinda smiling! Great news!! Aubrey now weighs at least 8 and a half pounds!! She has been putting on about a pound a week!! Good job Aubrey!!!
We got to celebrate Halloween twice by going to our church's Trunk or Treat and then at the one on Harding's campus! We had so much fun! Noah was an alligator and he won first prize in the costume contest. Kaylee was Strawberry Shortcake with Aubrey being her kitty Custard and Daphne was a Barbie doll. I kept singing, "I'm a Barbie girl in a Barbie world. Life in plastic, it's fantastic!..." Does anyone else remember that song?
Last Saturday we went up to Searcy for Harding's Homecoming. We didn't make it there in time for the kiddie games and stuff, but we did get to go to the football game. However, Micah and I both felt like it just wasn't the same as usual because there weren't many people there that we knew. Harding did end up beating the Henderson Reddies so that made it a little bit better. Here are some random pictures that Daphne took:
Then today we all went to the zoo. We have had such beautiful weather this week after having so much rain that you just had to get outside. Plus, Daphne and Kaylee were out of school today making it a perfect chance to go. My one complaint about our zoo is that it has gotten too expensive. The charge $10 per adult, $8 per child, and $2 for parking. This makes it hard for us to go very often so today was a treat. But the kids had a lot of fun which makes it worth it. They kept calling the animals their Jungle Book names like Bagera the panther and Shere Khan the tiger. It was very funny to hear them yelling at them like the animals were actually going to talk back!
