The end is near...

At least for soccer, that is. And thank goodness!! Soccer this year has gotten more serious with two practices a week, usually two games a week, and we also now have official refs for the games. Our team did great in the fall, but the spring has seemed to drag on and on. The kids are burned out and ready for a break. I think that the only games that we have won recently were the ones where the other team forfeited! Also, our poor coach has had to put up with some really bad attitudes from 3 or 4 of the kids. This has made him and the other team members even more frustrated. I don't think that he should have to be the one to deal with them. Why don't the parents take care of it? If Daphne's coach tells her to do something, then she is expected to do it with it questioning him or whining about it. She has gotten in trouble once or twice for that kind of behavior so I'm in no way trying to say that she is the perfect child. BUT when she did act up, we did something about it! There has been fighting among some of the boys. Pouting... Quitting in the middle of practice...etc. I just hope that next year will be better. Thanks for listening to me rant and rave!

Happy Birthday Noah!

Noah turned 4 a couple of Sundays ago on March 21. We were at the lakehouse in Hot Springs on his birthday and didn't have his party until this past Friday so that's why it's taken me a while to post about it.

This year Noah wanted to have his party at Jump Zone. He had about 20 kids from church and school come. It had a pirate theme and one of his big presents from us was a pirate raincoat. (he already has some pirate boots that his Aunt Marcy gave him last month as an early birthday present)

We also got him a new "boy" booster seat for the car and the girla got him some Toy Story toys. We had a lot of fun at his party and he got a lot of really cool toys from his friends.

Here are some things about Noah... he is all boy, but can definitley be a bit of a drama "king" at times...he's very animated and likes to tell stories that are half true and half made-up (a lot times we have to figure out what part he's making up!)...he has a very wide vocabulary and amazes me with his language skills...he is an accomplished spider-killer...he makes me laugh on a daily basis...he's a big helper. He can fold and hang-up most of his own clothes. He also wipes down the table and will help sweep....he's not very good at cleaning up his room though...Noah is into Star Wars, guns, swords, Legos, Spiderman, Toy Story, cars, trucks, sports...His favorite color right now is black...he's my "trashman". After I change on of Aubrey's diapers, I yell "I need a trashman" and he'll come throw the diaper away...he's a natural entertainer and class clown...Noah loves all of his friends very much...he would like a baby brother, but I told him that wasn't going to happen and he cried...Noah is a wonderful little boy and we are very lucky that he's in our lives!

This slide show is long, about 30 pictures, but I just couldn't leave any of them out.

Bragging Rights

Daphne and Mrs. Parker (her teacher) Daphne and her friend "Cinderella" Kaylee and Noah on stage in the Castle Daphne and Sophie

Well, I'm sure I'm a little bit bias, but I feel that as a mother I am allowed some bragging rights. Daphne had one of the main parts and the longest solo part in her school play about Fairy Tales last week. Her part was called the "Fairy Tale Rap" and it was about 18 lines long. She did a great job and her teacher even called us later that night to congratulate her on her performance. Unfortunately, since I didn't realize that we should get there an hour before the play was suppose to start, our seats were way in the back. Kaylee and Noah stood on a table so that they could see, but I could only see the very top of Daphne's head. Micah tried to get her on video, but he didn't have much luck either. I'm hoping to get a good copy from one of the parents on the front row and I will try to post it when I do.

Now, onto some more bragging....

Daphne's vice principal just called me from school and said that he had Daphne in the office with her. I immediately thought, "What has she done to get sent to the principal's office. I know that she can be quite a talker sometimes, but I don't think that it would escalate into something more." Well, he put me on speaker phone and started telling me what a wonderful and gifted student Daphne is. She had written a 20 page essay about fairy tales. He explained that it was the best piece of writing he had ever seen from a 1st grader. He said that it was very maturely written and that it "captivated his attention" for the entire 20 pages. Now, I can't wait for her to bring it home so that we can read it! Okay, that's enough bragging for now. I probably do some more on Sunday for Noah's birthday.

The Process of Losing a Tooth

If blood and stuff like that bothers you, please do not scroll down!! You have been warned!

For some reason, Daphne likes to wait until she gets to Micah's parents' house to pull out her teeth. However, the tooth fairy doesn't seem to make stops there anymore so she does get to bring it home. Between her and Kaylee losing teeth, the tooth fairy is going to go broke fast!

Aubrey at 6 months

This picture was taken about a month ago and she looks a lot older now, but I thought that it was too cute to not show it off.

What a cute little kitty cat!

Sharing her playmat with Noah. Aubrey loves her playmat! She'll lay on it for a while at a time and play with the toys dangling from it.

Aubrey is now six months old and the past months have really seemed to fly by. She had her appointment today and had to get 5 shots plus drink something. She's gotten to that age where she looks at my with eyes that say, "Why Momma? Why is that mean old nurse doing this to me?" Everything else about the check-up went really well. She is about a month behind on some developments, but right on schedule with others. Her measurements are: Length - 26 inches (50-75%), Weight - 13.8 lbs (15%), and Head Circumference - 17 1/2 inches (90-95%!!). The doctor is still watching her head growth and her soft spot so we'll go back in a month for another check-up.

Aubrey is really starting to notice when other people talk and turning to face them. She's also really clinging to me and will sometimes stop crying when I take her from someone else. She has been eating some rice and bananas since about Christmas time and we just started some peas and green beans a few weeks ago. She loves to eat. She opens her mouth for more and she'll even open her mouth when I'm eating something. And this is what she looks like when you stop feeding her for a second...

Not so cute, right?

Aubrey was sleeping through the night about a month ago, but lately she's wanting to nurse every three hours and then lay in her bed (which is still in our room) and talk for a while before she goes back to sleep. She usually goes back to sleep really good around 5:45 or 6:00 and then my alarm goes off at 6:30. I have really started to feel the effects of lack of sleep lately!

This past weekend we went to Memphis to visit my Aunt Marcy and celebrate her birthday, my birthday, Kaylee's birthday, Micah's birthday, and Noah's upcoming birthday. We pretty much sat around the house and relaxed, but we did go to the zoo on our way out of town. Here are some pictures of the wild animals.

If you give the kids a snow day...

Then they'll probably get up even earlier than a regular school day (and you thought you might get to sleep in!)

Then they'll probaby pull out half of their clothes trying to find something warm to wear.

Then it will take them at least 30 minutes to get dressed.

Then they'll probably only play outside for 10 minutes.

Then they'll definitley want some hot chocolate when they come in.

Then they'll want to watch TV for a while.

Then they'll probably be ready to go back outside again.

Then they'll take at another 30 minutes getting all their coats, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. back on.

If you give the kids a snow day...

So far we have had 3 days off from school for snow!! Those of you who have lived in the central Arkansas area know that this is not something that happens very often. Sunday night through Monday we got over 5 inches of snow! And the best thing is that it was the perfect kind of snow for building a snowmen and making snowballs. We've had a lot of fun playing outside!
