Thankful Tuesday

My 10 Things for this week:

1. The new Wal-mart in Sherwood. I was kinda opposed to it because sometimes I feel like Wal-mart is taking over the world. But now that it's here, I really like it. It's very spacious and although the parking lot may be full, inside the store is not crowded. I actually look foward to going to it.

2. Chuck E. Cheese!! Some of you may think that I'm crazy, but I love this place! It's truly where a kid can be a kid (and where an adult can act like a kid!)

3. We (the co-ed team) won a game last night!!!

4. Family - get used to me listing this one every week because they're usually what's on my mind.

5. A fixed rate mortgage! I feel so bad for the many people that are dealing with the adjustable rate ones.

6. Splash Zone - this is a water park in Jacksonville. It's only $4 to get in and it's small enough that I can easily keep an eye on all my kids.

7. The 4th of July - this is one of my favorite holidays. I really enjoy watching the fireworks especially if there's patriotic music playing at the same time.

8. My Kids. There are certainly days that I think I'm going insane, but I love all of them very much and I'm very, very thankful for them.

9. Noah has been without a pacifier for 5 days now! He announced one morning that he threw it away and that was pretty much all it took.

10. I'm finished with my ten things for this week.

Sorry about that last one, but I'm having a hard time of thinking of stuff today. I'm sure that there are plenty of things to be thankful for, but I've had a long day and I'm just a little tired. I'll try to do better next week.

Hard Labor?

I just found out that this is what my mother-in-law makes my kids do to earn their room and board!!

After they're finished working for her, then they're given one sandwich, 1 apple, and 1 juice box to share between the five of them. If any animals or ants show up, then they have to share with them, too.

I hope that everyone realizes that I'm just joking!! Luckily, my mother-in-law has a really good sense of humor

Thankful Tuesday

I'll get to Thankful Tuesday in just a second (Ryan!). But first, I want to show off pictures of my new niece!

Gail (aka: Grammy) holding Heidi. Do you see the way Heidi's looking at her sister, brothers, and cousins? Poor girl, it's going to be like that the rest of your life!

Matt (Micah's brother) holding Heidi and once again she's got kids hovering over her! Her first sentence is going to be, "Don't touch me!"

Okay, and now on to Thankful Tuesday. I appreciate everyone's patience.

1. Co-ed softball. I love, love, LOVE playing!! We don't win many games, but we sure have a lot of fun!

2. My parents for taking each of the kids one at a time. Right now they have Daphne. I think that it's really good for kids to have individual time. And sometimes that's really hard especially when they're as close together as Kaylee and Daphne.

3. My new niece! I have been so looking foward to her arrival! I think it's because every other time Matt and Michiko were pregnant, they either didn't live here or I was pregnant at the same time. This time, I'll be able to focus on just Heidi and not have a newborn of my own to take care of!

4. I'm finally finished cleaning our my Mother's Day Out classroom!! And it only took me a week!! (the last part was written with total sarcasm!)

5. My kitchen, living room, kids' rooms, and kids' bathroom are clean right now. Okay, now they're not.

6. I have finished 3 out of the 7 or 8 big projects I wanted to get done this summer. Hey, at least it's a start!

7. I have gotten back into a good workout routine.

8. And because of number 7 plus dieting, I have lost 5 pounds in about 8 days! Only 10 more to go!

9. Gas hasn't gone up within the past week.

10. Micah might start and new schedule next week that will hopefully be better than the one he's on right now. But, that's a big might because I've learned to not believe anything that the police department claims it's going to do until it actually does it.

I'm an Aunt! (again)

Micah's brother Matt and his wife Michiko gave birth to a baby girl last night around 10:30. Her name is Heidi Ayame Sexson. She was 21 inches long and weighed 9 pounds 12 ounces!! What a girl! That's almost how much Micah weighed when he was born! We were at the hospital last night when she was born and she is beautiful, of course. Matt and Michiko have 3 other kids: David - almost 8, Michael - almost 6, and Isabelle - 4. A lot of people have been asking Micah and me if we're going to have another baby to keep up with them and the answer is NO! We are finished! I will admit that with all the excitement last night, there was a small part of me that wants to have another one, but it's not enough to change my mind! I'm hoping to have pictures soon. My sister-in-law Amy is supposed to email me some, but I didn't want to wait any longer to make the announcement. Congratulations to Matt and Michiko!!

Prayers for Baby Brecken Hicks

Please look at my friend Melissa's blog. Her link is listed. Her sister has asked that we pray everyday at 10:20 (Melissa's due date) for Baby Brecken's kidneys. Thank you in advance to everyone who is willing to do this.

GHETTO - Fabulous ? ? ? ?

This is going to be a quick post. I just wanted everyone to see Daphne's new shoes that she picked out. They're camo with gold glitter and they have a chunky heal. I'm kinda regretting buying them because I think they look too old for her and a little trashy. But she picked them out and promises me that she's going to wear them. Also, I used to wear shoes that looked just like these when I was in high school so I guess it's "Like mother, like daughter".

Another tidbit of information: Tonight is Girls' Night Out! A group of girls from church are going to Olive Garden and then we're going to paint some pottery. I'm really looking forward to it! I haven't painted pottery or done anything like that in years. I'm trying to get all my house cleaning done so I'll be able to relax and enjoy myself instead of worrying about what I need to still do at home.

My Aunt Marcy is coming down tomorrow from Memphis so we can go to Hot Springs for the weekend. Talk to everyone next Tuesday!

Thankful Tuesday

My 10 Things I'm Thankful for This Week:

1. Micah having a job that he loves doing. Sure, there are plenty of complaints about court, schedules, etc., but he still looks foward to going to work every night.

2. Magic Springs season passes! My parents bought us these for Mother's Day/Father's Day. They're only $50 and it gets you into Magic Springs, Crystal Falls, and all of the concerts they have throughout the summer.

3. The NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK REUNION TOUR!!!!! Yes, I know that it's kinda pathetic, but I really am excited! The only problem is that the closest they're coming to my area is Dallas, so I have to decide if it's really worth it to pay for a hotel, buy concert tickets, pay for the gas, etc. Also, I'm having a problem finding other people that might want to go with me. Am I the only one that listened (and still do listen) to them?

4. That neither Micah nor I have a long commute. When we lived in Searcy, Micah would drive an hour to work and an hour back home. I couldn't imagine him doing that now with gas prices so high. I complain about gas prices, but at the same time, I remind myself that we really don't drive that far during the week.

5. Air conditioning! I love being outside, but at the same time, it's so nice to be able to come in and cool off.

6. Fresh fruit and vegetables during the summer.

7. That Noah walks around the house singing Hannah Montana songs and "Fabulous" from High School Musical 2. Maybe that's not really something I'm thankful for, but it sure is cute!

8. Free kids' movies during the summer at Lakewood.

9. Roach spray.

10. Ant spray.

You can probably tell by those last two what I've been battling this week. We were in Hot Springs last Wednesday-Saturday and we'll be there again this coming weekend. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
